Gloss Pictures with Sound Files with LiveAndTell thanks to a Lakota Programmer

32 year old South Dakota based programmer Biagio Arobba (Rosebud Lakota) has built a free, user-generated content site for sharing and learning languages (esp. endangered languages) called LiveAndTell, with accompanying Facebook page, which allows people to tag pictures with sound files. Collaborating with Oglala Lakota College and others to apply for funding through the NSF: National Science Foundation, he wants mobile versions for the iPhone and Android. Arobba points out that images, unlike written words, are culturally specific.
