Cankdeska Cikana Community College Gets 300k Grant from Shakopee Mdewakanton

Cankdeska Cikana (Little Hoop) is a rural, small (288 students + 8 matriculating high school students) college owned by the Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe. It began holding classes in the fall of 1970, but is currently enhancing its library on Dakota culture and language by upgrading its technology, shelving, publications and other media upon receiving a $300,000 grant from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
